I wanted to make an impression of the physical disturbances caused by sound and got carried away.
The machine structure is made from laser cut MDF and driven via Raspberry Pi. The motors and rails, and other mechanical aspects were harvested from my local E-waste as well as a bent PA speaker. Salvaged copper was formed into brushes, to allow the speaker to rotate freely while still delivering the audio signal. An old milk bag allows forms the drawing surface, it performed the best of any membranes I tested.
